QUANTRON's QHM AERO integrates Ballard FCmove®-XD fuel cell engine to set new standards in zero-emission mobility

Setting new standards in efficiency, power, and versatility, e-mobility specialist QUANTRON’s QHM AERO 44-ton hydrogen truck is powered by Ballard's latest generation fuel cell engine.

Integrated with two Ballard FCmove®-XD 120kW fuel cell engines, the QHM AERO offers class-leading range of up to 700km, hydrogen storage capacity exceeding 50kg and battery capacity of 120kWh.

The zero-emission vehicle’s hydrogen consumption is optimized by a specially developed management system – realizing maximum efficiency in the interaction between e-axle, fuel cell, high-voltage battery and 24V.

The compact design of the new FCmove®-XD fuel cell engine delivers class-leading volumetric power density, with an open architecture design approach that also makes the fuel cell the smallest and lightest in its power range.

A compelling feature of Ballard's new FCmove®-XD is scalability based on modularity. Efficient integration of 120kW, 240kW, and 360kW solutions are available dependent on truck class, use case, and duty cycle.

In the case of QUANTRON's QHM AERO, the integration of two FCmove®-XD modules, totalling 240kW of power output, was easily installed in the engine compartment of the Class 8 heavy-duty truck, enhancing standardization and redundancy.

With a design life of 30,000+ hours of operation – or over one million miles in truck operation at typical duty cycles – the FCmove®-XD is developed to deliver class-leading durability and low total cost of ownership, including a long driving range of 800km – subject to onboard hydrogen storage capacity.

Utilizing QUANTRON’s proprietary QUANTRON INSIDE technology, the hydrogen fuel cell-powered truck provides reliable long-haul performance, with lower operational costs and an environmental impact that is significantly reduced.

Thanks to its powerful drive and long range, the QHM AERO can be easily integrated into daily logistics planning, with the vehicle able to be seamlessly integrated in OEMs’ existing fleets.
